  • CommentaryThe designer Uwe Loesch has worked for the Ruhrlandmuseum (today’s Ruhr Museum) since 1987. It was therefore logical to dedicate the last special exhibition at the long-time site of the museum on Goethestraße to his poster work for the museum. For ›his‹ exhibition poster, Loesch cut some older posters in stripes and wove them together like the threads of a carpet to make a new image. The letters cross the stripes at seemingly different levels, but are then legible on the surface. Loesch worked a lot with typography – text never disturbs and is always part of the total composition. This often produces a complexity whose deciphering requires mental gymnastics. A first glance can confuse, the second brings insight.

The designer Uwe Loesch has worked for the Ruhrlandmuseum (today’s Ruhr Museum) since 1987.
